3. About The Congos. The tag team combination of Cedric Myton's sweet, smooth falsetto and Roydel 'Ashanti' Johnson's powerful tenor have made the Congos a shining example of how good Jamaican vocals can be. The Heart of the Congos is simply one of the best reggae albums ever made, and possibly the best that Lee 'Scratch' Perry ever produced.

The Congos' release, Heart of the Congos, produced by maverick Jamaican genius Lee "Scratch" Perry at his Black Ark studio, remains a roots reggae classic, and is arguably the high-water mark of Perry's unique sound. By inference, Heart of the Congos was also a peak for the Congos, as well, which made their follow-up, Congos Ashanti, an immediate disappointment.
